Blairfield House Camp Chichester,P.O.W.Camp

Blairfield House, Whyke, Chichester

Blairfield German prisoner of War camp was located in Whyke area of Chichester, details are very thin on the ground, period of use was from May 1918 till November 1918, this would have been a work camp, with i suspect a maximum ofno more than 50 Germans at any one time.

They would have been employed  on local farms and orchards,  and on road repairs.

The prisoners would have been paid for there work, the same amount as a private in the army.
