Sandgate P.O.W Camp Nr Sullington.

German prisoners were housed in the grand house, plus in a tented area on the grass area you can see in front of the house.

The prisoners were employed felling Pine trees, nr Heath Common, the wood being used for pit prop’s in France , mine pit props and matches.

Other work included working on the roads, including the construction of new roads within the area.
